Developing America's Next Generation of
    Business Servant-Leaders  . . .

Tharaldson School of Business

Sketch of the Gary Tharaldson School of Business by AWBA

The University of Mary's Tharaldson School of Business (formerly the Division of Business) offers:
  • Contemporary, differentiated education to those seeking careers in management, including self-employment.
  • An enhanced learning environment featuring simulations and case studies.
  • Networking through internships, campus organizations, and professional networking associations.
  • A faculty with real-world experience committed to you.
  • An emphasis on developing entrepreneurial skills and capabilities.

Mission

Our mission in the department is to create an environment in which students can develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to become America’s next generation of servant-leaders. Our program is designed to integrate classroom learning, Benedictine values, and real-world experience to provide you with an education that is a foundation for your success. We encourage you to become lifelong learners who seek opportunities to share your knowledge and values as servant-leaders in your workplace, family environment, and community.

Philosophy

Decisions made in the department are formed and informed by the values adopted by the University of Mary from the Sisters of Annunciation Monastery. These values of community, respect for persons, moderation, hospitality, service, and prayer, which are the foundation of the Benedictine educational tradition, are shared and embraced by the Gary Tharaldson School of Business. This foundation supports a division that encourages assessment and feedback from all of its constituents. This feedback allows monitoring, evaluating, and controlling our environment so that we are challenged to supply the best programs possible.

The Tharaldson School of Business encourages the growth and development of students by providing educational experiences that enhances the appreciation of diversity in decision-making. Our curriculum is developed with the understanding that the economy produces rapid changes in the workplace.

We must learn to accept change as a way of life. We must hold to the traditions of professionalism in our chosen fields. We continue our focus on the variety of opportunities that present themselves to impact our many communities in a way that benefits the individual and, ultimately, society.
