Mission

We are committed to the development of dedicated, competent, professional physical education teachers who conduct themselves ethically and reflectively, for the betterment of school and society. Students in the Division of Education at the University of Mary receive a strong philosophy-based education that prepares them to confidently enter the teaching profession.

Philosophy

The University of Mary Physical Education Program philosophy is based on the Division of Education Philosophy that focuses on the development of preservice teachers who take responsibility for student learning, who demonstrate strong pedagogical content knowledge, and who display professional characteristics.

Outcomes
  1. Graduates will become competent physical education teachers who have the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to improve student learning.
  2. Graduates will become competent physical education teachers who are committed to helping all children learn.
  3. Graduates will become competent physical education teachers who are educational leaders in the community.
