Preparing Leaders

The University of Mary Program in Radiologic Technology

  • Assists students in thinking effectively, empirically, independently, and constructively through the use of the scientific method.
  • Blends liberal arts and professional programs into one unified course of study.
  • Emphasizes lifelong learning and learning how to learn.
  • Presents leadership skills and practices in a Benedictine environment.
  • Gives students real experiences in practicing their newly acquired skills.

Mission

Our mission is to promote academic excellence in supporting the liberal arts and professional programs of the University of Mary. We support the mission of the university to serve the academic needs of the people of this region by offering programs that prepare students to function as lifelong learners and servant-leaders in their chosen careers in mathematics or science. In the radiologic technology major we provide professional courses to prepare students for internship experiences and successful completion of the registry examination.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is drawn from the university's foundations which are Christian, Catholic and Benedictine. We are a community of learners with students and faculty participating in the learning process. We seek to personalize learning, taking students from where they are to where they need to go. For students to become lifelong learners, they need to discover how to learn. Thus we intend to equip students with the skills and knowledge base necessary to exhibit excellence as professionals who employ Benedictine values as servant-leaders and team- builders.

Outcomes

Graduates in the Radiologic Technology major will

  • Possess the academic and technical skills to function as professionals in their chosen field.
  • Successfully complete the National Registry Exam.
  • Function as caring health-care providers incorporating the Benedictine values of the university in their interactions with patients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Gain admission into specialty programs such as ultrasound, MRI, and others.
  • Serve as leaders in their professional and community settings.
