The University of Mary Division of Social & Behavioral Sciences offers:

Mission

We provide a well-rounded program of study rooted in the Benedictine tradition of our sponsors, the Sisters of Annunciation Monastery. Our curriculum is designed to expose you to critical thinking skills, historical and sociological analysis, political systems, geographical settings, and the psychological nature of one's personal existence. In addition to the standard course offerings, we provide you with opportunities for independent studies, field experiences, and internships.


Philosophy

We are committed to helping your develop as a lifelong learner, competent professional, and servant-leader through a curriculum designed to expose you to several disciplines that emphasize critical independent thought.


Outcomes

Upon completion of your program of study, you will have the ability to:

  • To analyze and evaluate arguments, interpretations, beliefs, and theories.
  • To understand research techniques, relevant texts, and scholarly journal articles.
  • To apply historical, economic, social, cultural, geographical, and political facts to current events.
  • To display ethical and professional behavior while applying this knowledge to problems and changing fact situations.
  • To process and apply information reliably and accurately.
  • To display an understanding of the impact of issues of diversity on themselves and their communities.
